Press Release

19th May 2020

All India Kashmiri Samaj Welcomes Additions made to the Domicile Definition as Announced by the UT of J&K on 18th May 2020 & 16th May 2020 .

All India Kashmiri Samaj, vide its letter dated 4TH May 2020 had written to the Union Home Secretary ( with a copy to the Hon’ble Lt Governor of UT of J&K) expressing the community’s misgivings concerning the issue of Domicile definition as announced by the UT Government on 1 April 2020 and subsequently amended on 3 April 2020.The definition had created confusion and uncertainty in the community as it had left out a huge chunk of displaced community members out of the purview of the definition.

The announcement made by the UT of J&K on 18th May 2020 & 16th May 2020, have addressed almost all the issues taken up by All India Kashmiri Samaj. It is pertinent to mention that many other organizations/ individuals too had taken up this matter with the Union/UT government at their own level.

ALL India Kashmiri Samaj conveys its thanks to the Union Government as also to the UT Government of J&K for having issued the necessary orders which now address our grievances.

AIKS will soon come out with its blueprint to ensure that our community, wherever they may be living as displaced people now, are issued with the required Domicile Certificate as per the new rules.
